The next line in the Gujarati alphabet contains the dentals , so called because the tip of the tongue strikes the back of the upper teeth. T' is with the tip of the tongue slightly protruded beyond the teeth , TH is as in the English THank , THE is as in THat and THHE is THE sounded from the chest. This form of N is the commonest one used .

The Ns and Ts can be confusing as some sound do not occur in English. Note where the tongue tip touches the top in the sounds TH as in THought , the THE as in that , the T as in Tom and the D as in Drum. The soft T is the first T (as in the word TOTA above) . It is made by protruding the tip of the tongue beyond the edge of the upper teeth and touching the rest of the first third of the tongue against the back of the upper teeth. It is the same T as in PakisTan . The second TH as in THink is the same as in English . THE as in THat is the same . TTHHE is THE sounded from the chest .
